Carol Killian is a sales representative with BSI – Commercial Interior Design, Build, Furnish in Appleton. She rejoined the company in February 2016 after working there from April 2011 to November 2013.
BSI originated in 1947, providing acoustical ceilings. The company now provides complete commercial interior - Design, Build, Furnish and AV solutions. BSI is the largest Herman Miller dealer in Wisconsin. They have a team of architects, designers, lighting, art and AV specialists and craftsmen to self-perform a project from conception to completion.
As a sales rep, Carol uses BSI’s 10-point framework for Productivity Based Design as a balanced approach to providing both collaboration and concentration spaces needed in today’s ever-changing workplace.She works with companies to improve productivity, ergonomics, style, and comfort in their work places. Carol’s customer base includes healthcare, education, financial and commercial environments. “I enjoy meeting new people and helping them. I love watching the reaction when I can help someone with a more comfortable chair or a complete office make-over. I also enjoy training on new ideas and products for interior solutions. The best part of my job is working for BSI. They treat their employees like family. It’s a great place to work,” she says.
Carol has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in marketing and microbiology. She is proud of raising a successful young man, her son, Kyle, who works for an oil company in Madison. Her fiancé, Kim, is an engineer at Nercon Engineering. Carol also has a rescue dog Bear, who is her buddy.
In her free time, Carol enjoys gardening, wine tasting, and walking Bear. She is the Membership Committee Co-Chair on the MW Board of Directors. Carol also loves working with children. As a CASA volunteer, she meets weekly with a child she has been paired who is in the Child Protection and Services system. In addition, Carol is on the board for ANBA, Appleton Northside Business Association and participates in Women in Commercial Real Estate and various tips groups. In 2012, Carol was selected the WMMPA sales rep of the year 2012.
Carol joined Management Women because she likes both the learning and the networking it provides. She believes in what MW is all about -- supporting other women both personally and professionally. Her membership has enabled her to become friends with other women in a professional environment. “The speakers have both provided new ideas and reinforced things I already know. Management Women has also provided me with an opportunity to participate in both the membership committee and on the board of directors. Being INVOLVED in Management Women is what makes this organization so great. I choose to be involved so I can meet more people and learn more about others.
