As Supply Chain Inventory Planning Supervisor with Nature’s Way, Dawn Prien is responsible for overall Inventory reporting and leading the demand and supply planning as it relates the company’s Sales and Operation Planning Process. She has been with Nature’s Way for seven years.

Dawn’s inventory planning team manages inventory levels, turns, and fill rates for all business units for Nature’s Way. They develop and refine processes, procedures and strategies to execute optimal inventory levels throughout the supply chain. In her role, Dawn is required to understand the key drivers of forecast accuracy, analyze the root cause of discrepancies, and work with the appropriate teams to improve accuracy by product and brand. Working with cross-functional teams, her group executes supply plans to meet on-time delivery for their customers. Dawn also represents the supply chain as the key communication link between Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Finance, and colleagues within supply chain.

Nature's Way is one of the most recognized and trusted manufacturers of dietary supplements and vitamins. A pioneer in herbal supplements, the Nature's Way® brand is known for its expansive offerings of whole herbs, standardized extracts, vitamins and minerals, and homeopathic remedies. Beyond herbal supplements, Nature's Waymanufactures brands such as Alive!® multi-vitamins, Fortify probiotics, Umcka® Cold Care, and Sambucus. Their brands are sold through retail partners in grocery, drug, and health food stores, eCommerce, and other channels.

According to Dawn, employees at Nature's Way have a passion for building trustworthy brands that help improve the health and wellness of others. It is their mission, and it forms the basis of everything they do.  Dawn says, “I have spent my entire career in all areas of supply chain.  In my current position, I am able to pull together all of my past experiences to make a difference in Nature’s Way Operations Team. It is such a pleasure to work for a company that is highly focused on the health and wellbeing of their employees as well as people all around the world.  I have pride in our products, and the people that take the time to make high quality supplements, in a team based, safe environment.  I’m also a bit of an inventory geek and find passion in optimizing our inventories while meeting our internal as well as external customer needs.”  Dawn enjoys working with the other departments at Nature’s Way to help meet and exceed the company’s goals.

Dawn holds a bachelor’s degree in operations management and an associate’s degree in accounting.  She and her husband, Kevin, have a son, Austin, who is a sophomore at West De Pere High School.  In her free time, Dawn likes to spend time with her family and friends at their cottage on Cloverleaf Lakes, near Clintonville.  As a family, they enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, boating, golfing, and taking long walks. Dawn also enjoys playing sand volleyball year-round and is a member of APICS, the association for supply chain management

In 2008, Dawn helped Kevin start his business, American-3 Fab. They stayed up late many nights writing the business plan. The company started with five employees and they have since built a new building and employ over sixty employees.

Dawn says she joined Management Women “because I felt it was time for me to do something for myself while helping others.”  She had been to past HHH seminars and attended a luncheon as a guest.  Dawn likes what MW stands for and hopes that through networking, she can help herself as well as others progress in their careers and personal lives.  “Every month I look forward to what I can gain from the speakers and other women at the luncheon,” she says.  “I’m still a fairly new member, but I am building relationships with many other women.  The monthly luncheon speakers help me grow professionally as well as personally.  I became a member of the board in July as Accommodations Elect.  In this role, I am learning a lot about a very successful non-profit organization.”
